Midwifery work in Papua New Guinea
- 24 Φεβρουαρίου 2011
Dear Colleagues
Please see posting from Professor Pat Brodie. A web address is below for
further information.
Dear midwifery colleagues
I have been working with colleagues in the World Health Organisation and the
Papua New Guinea National Department of Health for a major part of the past
year. It is with great anticipation that I forward you a job recruitment
advertisement that represents an outstanding opportunity to use your skills
and expertise in a culturally challenging setting. As one part of a major
co-ordinated national emergency response to high rates of maternal and
infant mortality and morbidity in PNG, you will be part of a team of eight
midwives and two obstetricians who will each work in one of four settings
across the country with a focus on improving midwifery education and
practice. An attractive package of terms and conditions has been developed
including accommodation, security, regular home leave and financial
remuneration. There will be good support with regular linking up for all
involved in the project via the internet as well as face to face meetings.
We are casting the net quite widely to include midwives who can communicate,
facilitate others' learning and work in respectful culturally appropriate,
supportive ways. Maybe this is you?
Full details are available on the JTA website - www.jtai.com.au Go to
International Development Section
Please forward this on to any registered midwives whom you think may be
suitable and interested.
